Centers/Labs/Facilities
Established in 1939, the Food Protein Research and Development
Center is one of the oldest land-grant agricultural
research and service programs in the nation. It specializes in
process development of diverse agricultural crops and animal
products into food, feed and industrial ingredients. The scope of
the Center has continued to evolve with the development of
separation sciences in the oilseed processing industry. Basic
research and testing, technology development and training projects
are conducted for private industry, trade associations and state,
federal and international agencies. The program is partially funded
by the Texas Food and Fibers Commission and reviewed by its
Industry Advisory Committee.
Texas AgriLife
Research is the state's premier research agency in
agriculture, natural resources, and the life sciences.
Headquartered at Texas A&M University in College Station,
AgriLife Research serves the entire state through its on-campus
units and regional Research and Extension Centers. While
maintaining its traditional connection to farming and ranching,
AgriLife researchers are also developing crops with enhanced
nutrition, leading innovative research for renewable energy
sources, working with the U.S. military to sustain training lands,
and implementing new methods to improve air and water quality.
The TTI/TxDOT Hydraulics, Sedimentation, and
Erosion Control Lab (HSECL) is a full-scale,
indoor/outdoor facility with testing capabilities and research
programs for technology, products and devices used for storm water
quality improvement, erosion and sediment control, and vegetation
establishment and management.
